Social Language

What is Social Language?  Social language consists of using various methods to communicate effectively and appropriately with others.  This may consist of verbal language, body language, or gestures/signs.

Potential Problem Areas

             - turn taking

             - eye contact

             - initiating and maintaining conversation

             - asking questions

             - expressing and understanding feelings of themselves and others

 

Treatment

             - Treatment may consist of direct teaching of social rules of communication. 

               Home activities will be provided to practice newly learned skills in a variety of

               settings.  Group activities or sessions may be provided, if available.
