Strokes are the most common reason for an adult to demonstrate speech and language difficulties. However, it is not the only reason that adults may experience problems. Some adults may have continued difficulties communicating intelligibly due to decreased speech fluency, voice problems, and/or problems producing certain speech sounds. It is never too late to start speech and language therapy. Take a moment to answer the following questions. Do you have difficulty: · Communicating intelligibly? · Using specific speech sounds? · Using clear and fluent speech? · Maintaining good vocal quality when speaking? · Completing activities due to weaknesses in reasoning, problem solving, and/or memory? · Following and understanding directions, questions, and basic conversation? · Reading and/or comprehending written print? · Participating in everyday activities due to speech and language weaknesses? If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you may benefit from speech and language therapy.
