Speech Made Easy

Articulation and                               Phonological Disorders

What is an articulation and phonological disorder?  An articulation and phonological disorder is the difficulty in producing age-appropriate speech sounds correctly.  It consists of sound substitutions, deletions, and/or distortions that impact the person’s speech intelligibility.

Treatment

             - Treatment will include direct treatment and teaching of specific speech

sounds.  Oral motor exercises are often used to promote appropriate

movement and strength of the lips, tongue, and jaw to produce specific

speech sounds.   Activities and strategies will be provided to improve

performance in the home and school environments.
